My first roadside scuffle

As I started driving from my office parking lot, I got a call from my wife . After getting to know that she has reached her destination (she had started for her hometown that afternoon), I told her that I was driving and kept the phone saying that I would call her back.

I reached a small junction where other vehicles cross the main line.  Ahead of me a few cars were going straight and I felt the instinctive feeling of quickening up so that I too can follow the car ahead before the  cars coming from across can cross the road.  But I slowed down and let the cars cross  road. A few cars crossed by and as I noticed, a few more people felt the same instinctive feeling as I did and quickened so as to cross the road.  Watching a few cars go that way, I started wondering if I am not so competitive or desperate compared to those guys and if that has influenced my decision in slowing down.

Once past this I got into the main road heading towards Kondapur junction from Gachibowli. The traffic was heavy and so I started playing some music and was going in my first gear. While I was struggling to get ahead, a bus came beside me and surged ahead as there was gap available on that side of the road. I was still driving in my lower gears, when i spotted a good enough gap on my right. Giving the indicator, I made a small right shift and proceeded a little quickly to fill the gap ahead.

Suddenly , out the blue, a mini truck (a tent house stuff carrying one) gathered pace towards me coming from 45 degress  from my behind. My mind went blank for a moment as the truck bulldozed towards me , rammed the side mirrors and then straightened to go ahead. It took a moment for me to gather my wits and then I started shouting expletives at the truck which was around 20 ft ahead. As the traffic was heavy and I did not have space to go behind the truck , I kind of resigned to my fate and then started looking for the truck's number plate. But it did not have one on the behind.

After few moments, I lost track of the truck and headed straight hoping to find it somewhere on the way. After going some distance , I saw that it was stopped at a restaurant and that they was unloading some tent house equipment. Immediately I applied the left signal and  stopped a few meters from the truck . I pulled my car into a parking spot and then headed towards the truck guy searching for a pen from my bag.

As I neared him , I decided to note the details in my mobile. I reached the truck and started shouting expletives in telugu and also hindi for his convenience. He started retaliating by saying that it was my mistake. I noted the vehicle details and in a fit of rage kicked the truck. Though it didnot cause any damange, it made the truck driver climb down and hold my collar. I wriggled myself out of his hold but in the process one of my shirt buttons came out. A few people gather around and came in between the two of us. I continued mouthing expletives towards him and his partner who tried to verbally defend him.  Then I wanted to collect more details about the truck and then saw that it was a New Jubilee Tent house vehicle. I went to the restaurant where the stuff was being delivered and asked a supervisor kind of guy for more details about the truck owner.

The guy sidelined himself saying that they called the tent service and got the stuff delivered and that he doesn't know the details. Adding a word or two towards his attitude, I headed back to the truck. I saw two mobile numbers listed on the side of the truck pertaining to the tent house. As I was noting these details, the truck guys pulled out their vehicle and raced away. I called up the first number and  an old man answered and said that his son takes care of the establishment and asked me call the second number. Since I had entered the second number wrongly, I started wondering what to do. I did not know if anything would happen if I complain to the police. I walked back to my car and after lingering a bit around, I started for my home.

I then got a call from a number which was close to the second number that I copied. I quickly started telling him that his driver was such an %^&%% and that I am heading to the police station to file a complaint. The person started apologizing on behalf of his driver but I continued saying that the driver needs to be punished as he did it intentionally not worrying about the consequences. He intentionally rammed to the side of the car destroying the side mirror and then drove away. The person started requesting me not to file a complaint as it was his vehicle and that it would get stuck at the police station. He said he got complaints on this person earlier too and that this time he is going to fire him because of this deed. Moreover he said that he is an elderly man and was supposed to be on this delivery trip and since he was not well he could not make it and asked me to trust him.  Though I did not completely trust him, I told again him that his driver drove recklessly and deserved to be punished and asked him to see it to it that it happens.

Saying this I disconnected the call and headed to my empty house.
